Francisco Lindor, the star shortstop for the New York Mets, was absent from the team’s lineup on Monday due to a sore back. This comes after he left Friday’s game early and sat out on Saturday in an attempt to recover. Lindor underwent an MRI exam, which came back clean. However, he still reported feeling some pain and stated that his return would depend on how his back reacts.
In Friday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies, Lindor injured his back while running the bases. He managed to lead off Sunday’s game with a single but appeared uncomfortable and had to leave after just one inning.
Lindor has been a key player for the Mets this season, hitting .271 with 31 home runs and 27 stolen bases in 148 games. He has emerged as one of the top contenders for National League Most Valuable Player alongside Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
For Monday’s game against the Washington Nationals, Jose Iglesias filled in for Lindor at shortstop and as the team’s leadoff hitter. It remains uncertain how long Lindor will be sidelined with his sore back.
Francisco Lindor’s absence from the Mets’ lineup due to a sore back is concerning for both him and the team as they continue their push towards postseason play.
