Tokyo Man Arrested for Indecent Assault
A 27-year-old man has been arrested by Tokyo police on suspicion of indecently assaulting a woman in her 20s on a street in June. The suspect, identified as Kairiku Kiryu, is an employee at a company. According to Sankei Shimbun, Kiryu has admitted to the allegation and was quoted as saying, “I was drunk and felt horny.”
The incident took place in Itabashi Ward around 12:20 a.m. on June 30. Police stated that Kiryu allegedly called out to the woman as she walked along the street. He then approached her from behind, hugged her, and groped her breasts.
Fortunately, the victim managed to shake off Kiryu’s advances and quickly fled from the scene. She promptly reported the incident to a nearby police box known as “koban.” Authorities were able to identify Kiryu through an analysis of surveillance camera footage captured during the time of the assault.
The arrest serves as another reminder of the importance of public safety measures and surveillance systems in preventing such incidents from occurring unnoticed or unpunished.
