Hyogo Prefecture Governor, Motohiko Saito, has announced his intention to seek re-election after the prefectural assembly unanimously passed a motion of no-confidence against him on September 19. According to the rules, if a vote of no-confidence is passed, a governor must either resign or dissolve the assembly within 10 days. Failure to do so results in automatic job loss. In response to this situation, Saito stated during a press conference on Thursday that he will not dissolve the assembly and therefore expects to lose his job.
