CDPJ’s Platform Draft Advocates for Increased Minimum Wage and Prohibition of Corporate Donations

The​ Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan⁤ (CDPJ) has​ revealed a draft of its campaign platform for the upcoming House of ‍Representatives election, which includes a⁣ call for political reforms. The​ draft proposes‍ banning donations ⁣from corporations and organizations, as well​ as implementing a minimum wage of at least ¥1,500 ‌to restore a large middle‌ class. These reforms align ⁤with⁢ the party leader Yoshihiko Noda’s goal of bringing about a change in government.

Titled “Enrich your life with a change ⁤of government,” the draft outlines seven policy pillars. These include restoring trust in politics, supporting an ultra-aging society through pensions and healthcare, revitalizing regional areas and​ industries such as agriculture and fishery, ⁢and promoting a harmonious society.

In terms of political reform, the ⁣CDPJ promises to crack down on hidden funds⁤ and tax evasion. It also aims to restrict hereditary succession among Diet members. On matters of diplomacy and security, the party emphasizes‍ the importance of the Japan-U.S. alliance as well as strengthening ties‍ with the Asia-Pacific region.

The platform also ⁤addresses issues related to climate change measures and human rights​ on an international level. In terms of ⁢child-rearing and⁢ education, the CDPJ advocates for free school meals and ⁤eliminating tuition fees for high schools, vocational schools, and ⁢universities.

To promote gender equality within society, the party supports introducing a selective surname system for married couples. These proposals are consistent with their policy manifesto.
