Country music singer-songwriter Eric Church has announced that he will be donating all publishing royalties from his new song “Darkest Hour” to the relief effort in North Carolina following the devastating Hurricane Helene. The 47-year-old made the announcement on Instagram, stating that the proceeds from the song will go towards providing immediate aid to storm victims. Church, who hails from North Carolina, described it as a place where his soul is at rest and expressed his concern for the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in his home state. The hurricane made landfall on September 26 and has been responsible for over 200 deaths and widespread destruction across the Southeastern United States. In addition to donating song royalties, Church’s charity organization, The Chief Cares Fund, is also directing its efforts towards helping those affected by the hurricane in South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. Church urged fans to donate to his fund or help raise awareness of the devastation caused by sharing information about it on social media. He also called for a community effort to assist people who are still stranded or in need of rescue from flood zones. Despite initially planning to hold off on releasing new music until next year, Church felt compelled to release “Darkest Hour” as a way of supporting those in dire need during this challenging time. Other celebrities such as actor Chris Pratt and country singer Morgan Wallen have also joined relief efforts by making donations and encouraging others to do so as well.
