A one-year-old male giraffe, named Kiryu, will soon be sent from Toyohashi Zoo and Botanical Park in Aichi Prefecture to Batu Secrete Zoo in Indonesia for breeding purposes. Kiryu, who was born on August 6, 2023, is the third child of his parents Uryu and Yurara. Standing at about 3 meters tall, he has grown up healthy and will bid farewell to the park on October 13 before departing for Indonesia on October 31. The Indonesian zoo currently houses two female giraffes, making it an ideal environment for breeding. Once Kiryu leaves, Toyohashi Zoo will still have one male and two female giraffes remaining. The zoo’s veterinarian expressed hopes that Kiryu will be well-received overseas and enjoy a healthy life with his new companions.
