The Louisville football program is returning home after suffering their first loss of the season against Notre Dame. They will be facing SMU, one of the three newcomers to the ACC this season. In terms of injuries, star wide receiver Caullin Lacy was able to return to the lineup after missing the first three games of the season. There were rumors that cornerback Tahveon Nicholson could be out against Notre Dame, but he ultimately played. The status of Quincy Riley, who suffered an ankle/foot injury, is still uncertain.
SMU also has a few injuries to note. Backup running back Jaylan Knighton is out for the season with a knee injury. Running back L.J. Johnson missed the FSU game with a concussion and is day-to-day, while wide receiver Romello Brinson is week-to-week with a knee injury. Starting defensive tackle Anthony Booker’s status for this weekend is not yet known.
Louisville has shown some sloppiness in their recent games against tougher competition. They committed penalties and turnovers that cost them points and ultimately led to their loss against Notre Dame.
SMU’s offense has been thriving since making a quarterback change, putting up impressive numbers in their last two games.
