Canadian actor Keanu Reeves had a challenging debut in professional auto racing at the prestigious Indianapolis Motor Speedway. During the 45-minute race, Reeves lost control of his car and veered off course just past the halfway mark. Fortunately, he managed to avoid any collisions as his car spun into the grass on turn 9.
Reeves quickly got back on track and continued driving, signaling that he was unharmed. Despite qualifying in 31st place out of 35 cars, he climbed as high as 21st during the race. He also successfully avoided a crash on the first lap at turn 14 and ultimately finished in 25th place.
The actor, who is now 60 years old, is participating in the Toyota GR Cup at Indianapolis. This brand-specific racing series serves as a support event for this weekend’s Indy 8-hour sports car event. Reeves will also be racing on Sunday.
For this event, Reeves is driving the No.92 BRZRKR car to promote his graphic novel ”The Book of Elsewhere.” He has Cody Jones from “Dude Perfect” as his teammate.
Prior to his race, Reeves shared a video message expressing gratitude for the opportunity to compete at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This isn’t his first time behind the wheel on a race track; he previously participated in England’s Goodwood Festival of Speed with an Arch KRGT-1 motorcycle in 2016.
