In a surprising discovery, Japan Mint has revealed that over 500,000 ceramic coins, which were created during World War II due to a shortage of metal, have been found in a warehouse near one of its former mints in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City. These unique coins were never put into circulation as the war ended before they could be released to the market. This is the largest quantity of ceramic coins ever uncovered. Each coin has a value of 1 sen, equivalent to one hundredth of ¥1.
