Manchester City is seeking a decision from Pep Guardiola regarding his future with the team before the end of this year, according to a report. Guardiola, who has one year left on his contract with City, has openly acknowledged that he is nearing the end of his tenure at the club. With director of football Txiki Begiristain set to depart at the end of the season, there have been speculations that Guardiola might also choose to leave and make way for a new era under incoming director Hugo Viana. Despite these rumors, City has repeatedly expressed their desire to continue with Guardiola. However, a previous report suggested that Guardiola was already considering stepping down in 2025. ESPN reports that City officials are hoping for a final decision from Guardiola before the year ends so they can have enough time to find a suitable replacement if needed. One potential candidate to replace Guardiola is Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim, who currently works under Viana. Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes recently voiced his support for Amorim’s success in England. The Athletic notes that while Amorim could be favored by Viana as a potential replacement for Guardiola due to their existing relationship, it does not guarantee their reunion at Etihad next season.
