2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo Countdown Begins: New Paper Tickets Available, Reservation System Expanded

Paper tickets for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo were made available for purchase at convenience stores and travel agencies on Sunday, marking the six-month countdown to the event. As of Wednesday, approximately 7.14 million advance tickets had been sold, which is half of the target set by the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition. In order to boost sales, further promotional efforts are being planned.

Scheduled to take place from April 13 to October 13 next year on Yumeshima Island in Osaka City, the Expo will see participation from 161 countries and regions. The theme of this global event is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” Despite initial concerns about potential delays, construction has already begun on pavilions representing 45 out of the total 47 countries involved.

The Expo organizers have emphasized that it will be a “no-waiting” event. Visitors are required to purchase tickets and reserve their visit date online as a general rule. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance of the chosen date. E-tickets have been available since November last year.

However, recognizing that some individuals may not feel comfortable with online systems or prefer paper tickets, physical tickets without prior reservations were introduced on Sunday alongside e-tickets.

With these recent developments in ticket availability and ongoing promotional efforts by organizers, anticipation continues to build as we approach one of Japan’s most significant international events in recent years.
