Today’s NYT Strands hints and answers are available for Thursday, October 10. The New York Times’ Strands puzzle is a word search game that can be found in the NYT Games app. Each day, players are presented with a six by eight grid of letters and must find a group of words that have something in common. A clue is provided to hint at the theme of the words. When a theme word is found, it remains highlighted in blue.
In addition to finding theme words, players must also locate a special word called a spangram. The spangram links at least two sides of the board but may not start or end there. While theme words cannot be proper names, the spangram can be one. Once found, the spangram remains highlighted in yellow.
To play Strands, players connect letters vertically, horizontally, and diagonally while using each letter once in one of the theme words or spangram. On touchscreen devices, double tapping the last letter submits your guess.
If three valid words of at least four letters are found that are not part of the theme, players unlock the Hint button which highlights letters that make up one of the theme words.
The difficulty level varies from day to day and may involve filling missing words in phrases or focusing on synonyms or homophones.
For today’s puzzle, there are six theme words to find including CHEMISTRY LAB as the spangram. The other five theme words are PIPETTE, THERMOMETER, BEAKER FLASK GOGGLES.
Overall this puzzle was not too challenging as BEAKER was quickly spotted which helped solve everything else. GOGGLES followed before finding CHEMISTRY LAB as the spangram.
