The Israeli ambassador to Japan, Gilad Cohen, has criticized remarks made by Toshiyuki Mimaki, co-chair of Nihon Hidankyo, comparing the situation in Gaza to post-war Japan. Mimaki made the comments during a press conference on Friday, stating that the scenes in Gaza reminded him of Japan 80 years ago. Nihon Hidankyo recently won the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize for their work advocating for A- and H-Bomb sufferers. Ambassador Cohen took to social media platform X to express his congratulations to Nihon Hidankyo for their Nobel Peace Prize win but condemned Mimaki’s comparison as ”outrageous and baseless.”
