The ex-husband of “Real Housewives of New Jersey” cast member Dina Manzo has been sentenced to seven years in prison for his involvement in a violent crime. Thomas Manzo, 59, was found guilty by a federal jury on charges of conspiracy, falsifying and concealing documents, and committing a violent crime in aid of racketeering activity. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Susan Wigenton.
Prosecutors stated that Manzo had hired John Perna, who is said to be associated with the Lucchese crime family, to carry out an attack on Dina Manzo’s boyfriend back in July 2015. The boyfriend was reportedly beaten with a weapon during the assault. In return for arranging the attack, Perna was given the opportunity to host his wedding reception at a restaurant partly owned by Thomas Manzo.
Perna pleaded guilty to committing a violent crime in aid of racketeering activity and received a sentence of 2.5 years. He was released from prison in August 2023. It is worth noting that Dina Manzo’s boyfriend at the time is now her husband.
Thomas Manzo will not only serve seven years behind bars but will also have three years of supervised release once he completes his prison term.
This case highlights the involvement of individuals associated with organized crime and their influence over personal matters such as weddings and relationships within certain circles. The sentencing serves as a reminder that such actions have serious consequences under federal law.
