The Democratic National Convention caucus and council meetings took place at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago on August 21, 2024. Congressman John Larson (D-Conn.) was one of the speakers at the convention. Protestors and counter-protestors also gathered outside the convention center for a Gaza-ceasefire demonstration.
During the convention, Jonathan Polin and Rachel Goldberg shared their story about their son Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who was held hostage in Gaza. Delegates listened attentively to their emotional account.
Former President Bill Clinton also made an appearance at the DNC in Chicago, delivering a speech to enthusiastic attendees. Former Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was present as well.
The United Center served as a venue for various events during the convention, including speeches by Vice Presidential nominee Tim Waltz. Democratic delegates from across the country came together to participate in this important political gathering.
