Democrat Kamala Harris has raised $540 million in just over a month since launching her presidential campaign, with a surge of donations pouring in during the Democratic National Convention last week, according to her campaign.
In a memo released by Harris’s campaign manager, Jen O’Malley Dillon, it was revealed that the $540 million raised includes $82 million received during the convention week. This fundraising success is seen as an indication of strong Democratic support for Harris’s candidacy.
“This is the highest amount ever raised by any presidential campaign within this time frame,” stated Dillon.
Vice President Harris officially entered the race for president on July 21 after President Joe Biden stepped aside due to concerns about his cognitive ability following a stumble during a debate against Republican Donald Trump on June 27.
This week, Harris and her vice presidential running mate, Tim Walz, will embark on a bus tour through Georgia as part of their White House campaign. Their aim is to garner support in this crucial state ahead of the November 5 election.
