Rapper Fatman Scoop Passes Away After Collapsing at Concert

Rapper Fatman Scoop has passed away after collapsing on stage during a concert in Connecticut, according to family and local officials. The New York-born artist, whose real name is Isaac Freeman III, suffered a medical emergency while performing at the “Green & Gold Party” concert in Hamden, Connecticut on August 30. Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett confirmed the incident. Video footage from the concert showed other performers leading a prayer for Freeman while an emergency medical responder performed chest compressions. Freeman was taken to the hospital but later succumbed to his condition.

In a social media post on Saturday morning, Freeman’s family expressed their sadness over his passing and described him as a “radiant soul” and an icon in the music industry. The cause of his death remains unclear.

Freeman was widely known for his contributions to several hit singles, including Missy Elliott’s “Lose Control” and Mariah Carey’s “It’s Like That.” His 1999 single “Be Faithful” also achieved significant success.

Tributes poured in from fellow artists and industry professionals following news of Freeman’s death. Talent agency MN2S referred to him as their dear friend and client who was loved by countless fans worldwide. Producer and DJ Birch Michael, also known as Pure Cold, thanked Freeman for everything he had given him.

Freeman was scheduled to perform at the Reminisce Festival in the UK on September 7. The festival posted a tribute acknowledging his absence and expressing how deeply he will be missed by everyone involved.
