Yoshimasa Hayashi Announces Candidacy for Japan’s LDP Presidency; Previously Ran for Post in 2012

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi has announced his candidacy for the ruling‌ Liberal Democratic Party’s ​presidential election. Speaking ​at a press conference‌ in the Diet Building, Hayashi expressed his ⁣intention to run ‍in the party’s presidential ⁤election, stating that he aims⁤ to conduct people-friendly politics that will ⁢give all citizens‍ peace of mind.

The official start of the presidential ‍election is set​ for September 12th, with ‍voting and‌ ballot‌ counting scheduled⁤ for September⁣ 27th. This marks Hayashi’s second ⁢run for the party presidency, having previously contested in 2012.

Representing Yamaguchi Constituency No. 3​ in the House of Representatives, Hayashi has been elected to the House of Councillors five times before. Throughout his⁢ political career, he has held various cabinet positions including⁤ foreign⁣ minister, defense minister, and agriculture, forestry⁤ and fisheries minister.
