British singer-songwriter Elton John has taken to social media to provide an update on his health. He revealed that he has been experiencing partial blindness due to an ongoing infection. In a post on Instagram, John explained that he has been dealing with a severe eye infection over the summer, which has left him with limited vision in one eye. He expressed gratitude for his medical team and family who have been taking care of him during this time.
This is not the first health issue that John has faced in recent years. In 2017, he underwent treatment for prostate cancer and had surgery to remove his prostate. He also contracted an infection while on tour in South America, which led to hospitalization. In 2021, he had to postpone shows for his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour” due to hip surgery after sustaining injuries from a fall.
Earlier this year, John underwent knee replacement surgery due to mobility issues caused by arthritis. Despite these challenges, John’s career has spanned over five decades and includes numerous successful albums such as “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” and “Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy.” His life and career were depicted in the biographical musical drama “Rocketman,” where actor Taron Egerton portrayed him.
John’s latest project is a documentary titled “Elton John: Never Too Late!” It will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before streaming on Disney+. The film explores the memories, music, and moments that have shaped his life.
Elton John remains optimistic about his healing process and recovery from his current eye infection while expressing gratitude for the support he has received from medical professionals and loved ones throughout these health challenges.
