Chiefs wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown is facing a significant absence from the regular season due to injury. Reports indicate that the Chiefs have decided to place Brown on injured reserve following a shoulder injury that kept him out of Week One. According to NFL rules, a player must remain on injured reserve for at least four weeks, but it appears that Brown’s recovery will take longer than that. As a result, he will undergo surgery for the shoulder injury.
Brown joined the Chiefs in March on a one-year contract with hopes of becoming a key playmaker in their offense. Unfortunately, his injury has prevented him from showcasing his skills thus far.
The rest of the Chiefs’ receiving corps includes Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, Skyy Moore, Mecole Hardman, and JuJu Smith-Schuster. In Week One, Rice had an impressive performance with seven catches for 103 yards. Worthy also made an impact by scoring both a touchdown catch and a touchdown run in his NFL debut. The Chiefs will rely on these top two receivers to continue delivering strong performances in upcoming games.
Brown’s absence poses challenges for the Chiefs’ offense as they navigate through the regular season without one of their anticipated playmakers.
