A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame will be unveiled on Thursday to honor Scottish actor Ewan McGregor for his successful movie career. McGregor has starred in popular films such as “Trainspotting,” “Moulin Rouge!,” and the “Star Wars” prequel trilogy. The ceremony, taking place at 6840 Hollywood Blvd., near the El Capitan Theatre, will feature speeches from Hayden Christensen, McGregor’s co-star in the “Star Wars” films, and Mike Mills, who directed him in the romantic comedy-drama “Beginners.” Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, revealed that McGregor’s star will be located close to Carrie Fisher’s star from the same franchise.
The event will be streamed live on walkoffame.com. This star marks number 2,789 since the completion of the Walk of Fame in 1961. To accommodate the ceremony, a section of Hollywood Boulevard between Highland and Orange avenues will be closed starting at 9:30 a.m. The eastbound side will remain closed until 2 p.m., while the westbound side will reopen after the ceremony concludes.
Born on March 31, 1971 in Perth, Scotland, McGregor began his acting career with a six-episode serial called “Lipstick on Your Collar” in 1993. He made his film debut in “Being Human” (1994) and gained recognition for his role as Mark Renton in “Trainspotting” (1996). McGregor also portrayed Obi-Wan Kenobi in multiple installments of the “Star Wars” franchise and received critical acclaim for his performance as fashion designer Roy Halston in Netflix’s miniseries “Halston.”
In addition to his film work, McGregor has been involved with motorcycle documentaries such as “Long Way Round,” “Long Way Down,” and “Long Way Up.” His upcoming projects include starring roles in science fiction film “Flowervale Street” and Paramount+’s limited series “A Gentleman In Moscow.”
