A sideline official collapsed during the Baltimore Ravens‘ game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. He received CPR and was later taken off the field on a stretcher. The official, who was working as the first-down chain marker, was seen waving his hand and moving his mouth as he was stretchered off.
According to a tweet from the Baltimore Ravens, medical personnel immediately attended to the collapsed official. Upon leaving the field, he was alert and responsive. He is currently being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
During this incident, both Ravens and Raiders players took a knee on the field while Baltimore’s medical staff provided assistance to the official and administered CPR.
The incident occurred at 2:36 in the second quarter while a play was under replay challenge. A member of the Ravens public relations team stated that despite collapsing, the chain gang member remained alert and responsive throughout his transportation to a local hospital.
As a result of this incident, there was approximately a 10-minute delay in gameplay before it resumed.
In another game between Houston Texans and Chicago Bears on “Sunday Night Football,” another chain gang member had to be carted off after an injury. However, this individual appeared to be in better condition as he sat up and gave a thumbs-up gesture to acknowledge support from spectators as he left.
