Seven people have died, two are missing, and 12 have been injured in the Noto area of Ishikawa Prefecture due to heavy rainfall. Search and rescue operations are currently underway to locate the missing individuals. The torrential rain has caused roads to be cut off, making it difficult for emergency services to reach affected communities. In total, 56 communities have been isolated as a result of the flooding.
The impact of the rain extends beyond the immediate danger posed by rising water levels. Temporary housing sites that were constructed for those affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake have also been affected by the heavy rainfall. Six of these sites have been confirmed to be inundated, raising concerns about ongoing reconstruction efforts following the earthquake that occurred on January 1st.
