Sekiwake Onosato Secures Autumn Grand Sumo Title Ahead of Schedule

Sekiwake Onosato secured ⁣his second Emperor’s Cup and is on the​ verge⁤ of being promoted to ozeki, after defeating ozeki Hoshoryu at the ‍Autumn⁤ Grand Sumo Tournament in Tokyo.⁢ With a record of 13-1, Onosato used powerful shoves to push ‌Hoshoryu ⁣out of the ring, avenging previous losses. In a post-match interview,​ Onosato expressed his focus and determination, stating that he still ‌has one more bout left and intends to give it his all. The 24-year-old sumo wrestler from Ishikawa Prefecture had ⁣previously won the makuuchi division title at the Summer tournament in May, just‍ one‌ year after making his debut in sumo wrestling. ​Having already surpassed the required criteria of 33 ​wins over three tournaments ‍for promotion to ozeki, Onosato is ​expected to be elevated to this prestigious rank for ​the next ​tournament.
