Apple has expanded its range of iPhones, with two models disappearing and a new one being added. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which were available a few weeks ago, are no longer being sold by Apple. These models were the only ones capable of Apple Intelligence, apart from the new iPhone 16 series. However, they can still be purchased from other retailers or as refurbished models on platforms like Amazon.
Another model that has been retired is the iPhone 13. This is significant because it has led to an increase in the available range of iPhones. The iPhone 13 came in two sizes: iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. While both were initially launched in September 2021 and remained on sale when the iPhone 14 series was released in September 2022, only the regular-sized version was still available in September 2023.
Last year’s range consisted of eight phones: iPhone SE, along with the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, iPhone14, and14 Plus. However this year’s range now includes nine different iPhones as Apple continues to offer more options to consumers.
As always with new releases from Apple, older models have seen price reductions. The prices for the recently discontinued models (iPhone15 andiPhone15 Plus) have dropped by $100 each to $699 and $799 respectively. Similarly aged phones from previous years (iPhone14and14 Plus) have also had their prices reduced by a similar amount to $599 and $699 respectively.
Apple aims to strike a balance between offering choice without overwhelming consumers with too many options. This year’s expanded range provides customers with even more choices than last year.
