Aaron Judge hits 54th home run in 2024

Carlos Rodón’s impressive leap in‌ the visitors’ dugout was a natural reaction to ‍Giancarlo Stanton’s powerful hit. The Yankees ‍knew it would ‌be a home ⁣run,‍ but they couldn’t help but ⁤watch in⁤ awe as the ball soared through the air. Stanton’s mammoth three-run drive, projected to be‍ 441 feet, broke open the ‌game and led the Yankees to a resounding 10-0 victory over⁤ the ‌Athletics.

Aaron ⁤Judge also contributed to the Yankees’ dominant performance with his Major League-leading 54th home run⁤ of the season. Anthony Volpe ⁣added ‌another homer,‍ solidifying their commanding five-game lead over the⁤ Orioles in the American League East.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone ⁤praised‌ Stanton for taking “the air out‍ of the building” with his ⁤powerful shot that landed about 10 rows above left field. Stanton himself felt motivated after grounding into a double ‌play earlier⁣ in the game.

On⁤ top of their offensive prowess,‍ Carlos Rodón delivered ⁣an ‍exceptional performance on the mound. He‍ pitched six scoreless innings and picked up his team-leading 16th victory. The Yankees’‍ starters have been impressive against‍ Oakland, allowing⁢ only one run ‍over 15 innings so far.

For Aaron⁣ Judge, ‌this series at‌ Oakland Coliseum holds special significance as ⁣he grew up attending games there⁤ and even had an on-field workout with MLB players ⁣shortly after being drafted in 2013.

The ‍A’s are playing their final homestand⁤ at Coliseum before ‌temporarily moving ‍to Sacramento from ⁤2025-2027⁢ and eventually relocating to Las ‌Vegas. It ‍was ‌fitting that Judge hit a ⁤solo home run in⁢ his ⁤last series at ‍Coliseum, extending his lead for most homers this⁣ season.

Judge’s total ‍of 54 homers ties ‍him with Babe Ruth (1920, ’28), Mickey Mantle (1961), ⁢and Alex Rodriguez (2007)‌ for ‍fifth-highest single-season total in franchise history. His performance also secured ⁣him as one of only⁤ five ‍players since 1950 to achieve more than 90 extra-base hits over multiple⁤ seasons.

With this win, Aaron Boone reached a milestone as he became only seventh manager in franchise history to⁣ record 600 wins with the Yankees.
