Carlos Rodón’s impressive leap in the visitors’ dugout was a natural reaction to Giancarlo Stanton’s powerful hit. The Yankees knew it would be a home run, but they couldn’t help but watch in awe as the ball soared through the air. Stanton’s mammoth three-run drive, projected to be 441 feet, broke open the game and led the Yankees to a resounding 10-0 victory over the Athletics.
Aaron Judge also contributed to the Yankees’ dominant performance with his Major League-leading 54th home run of the season. Anthony Volpe added another homer, solidifying their commanding five-game lead over the Orioles in the American League East.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone praised Stanton for taking “the air out of the building” with his powerful shot that landed about 10 rows above left field. Stanton himself felt motivated after grounding into a double play earlier in the game.
On top of their offensive prowess, Carlos Rodón delivered an exceptional performance on the mound. He pitched six scoreless innings and picked up his team-leading 16th victory. The Yankees’ starters have been impressive against Oakland, allowing only one run over 15 innings so far.
For Aaron Judge, this series at Oakland Coliseum holds special significance as he grew up attending games there and even had an on-field workout with MLB players shortly after being drafted in 2013.
The A’s are playing their final homestand at Coliseum before temporarily moving to Sacramento from 2025-2027 and eventually relocating to Las Vegas. It was fitting that Judge hit a solo home run in his last series at Coliseum, extending his lead for most homers this season.
Judge’s total of 54 homers ties him with Babe Ruth (1920, ’28), Mickey Mantle (1961), and Alex Rodriguez (2007) for fifth-highest single-season total in franchise history. His performance also secured him as one of only five players since 1950 to achieve more than 90 extra-base hits over multiple seasons.
With this win, Aaron Boone reached a milestone as he became only seventh manager in franchise history to record 600 wins with the Yankees.
