Actress Ali Larter has found a sense of grounding and tranquility after leaving the glitz and glamour of Hollywood for the mountains of Idaho. In an interview with Rue Magazine, published on September 17, the 48-year-old shared how she and her family unexpectedly made the decision to leave Los Angeles and settle in the small town of Sun Valley.
Larter, known for her role in “Legally Blonde,” along with her husband Hayes MacArthur, reflected on their uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic while living in California. MacArthur expressed how the entertainment industry came to a standstill and their children were confined to remote schooling.
After a year of these circumstances, they decided to embark on an adventure as a family by packing up their car and heading north. Alongside their two children and dog Nala, they were drawn to Sun Valley’s beauty and peaceful community-driven atmosphere.
The couple fell in love with the majestic mountains that surrounded them. Larter mentioned that neither she nor her husband had ever experienced living in such a small town before. They appreciated how people looked out for one another, fostering a strong sense of community.
In 2022, they began building their dream home which was completed last year. Spanning across two acres of land, this 4,400-square-foot house was designed to blend seamlessly into Sun Valley’s natural geography.
Despite adjusting from their fast-paced lifestyle in Hollywood, both Larter and MacArthur agree that living amidst nature serves as a gentle reminder to live in the present moment. The sight of mountains relaxes them both; it provides solace from their typically hectic lives.
The couple is not alone in seeking refuge away from California’s spotlight-filled environment. Many other famous faces have also chosen to leave behind the Golden State for a more serene existence with their families.
Ali Larter rose to fame as an actress after starring in “Varsity Blues” (1999) followed by her iconic role alongside Reese Witherspoon in “Legally Blonde” (2001). She met Hayes MacArthur during this time when he was just starting his acting career. Larter has since appeared in various films including multiple installments of the “Final Destination” series.
