Reality TV personality Amy Slaton, known for her appearance on TLC’s “1000-Lb. Sisters,” was arrested at a Tennessee wildlife park on Monday. The arrest was made on suspicion of illegal drug possession and child endangerment. The incident took place at the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo, Tennessee, after deputies from the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a camel bite.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies noticed suspicious odors emanating from Slaton’s vehicle. As a result, she was taken into custody for alleged illegal possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI drugs, as well as two counts of child endangerment. Brian Scott Lovvorn, who was also in the vehicle with Slaton, faced similar charges and both were booked into the Crockett County Jail.
The sheriff’s department emphasized that these charges are merely accusations and not evidence of criminal conduct until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt through due process of law.
In another facebook post by the sheriff’s department on September 3rd, it was mentioned that Crockett County General Sessions Judge Paul Conley had set bonds for Slaton and Lovvorn at $10,000 each.
Amy Slaton rose to fame alongside her elder sister Tammy through their youtube channel where they shared videos about their lives. This led to them securing their own reality show on TLC called “1000-Lb. Sisters,” which followed their weight loss journeys.
The first season of the show premiered in January 2020 and focused on Amy Slaton’s struggles with fertility issues due to her weight. She underwent gastric bypass surgery in an attempt to lose weight for a healthy pregnancy and eventually gave birth to her first son in November 2020.
Tammy Slaton also underwent weight loss surgery featured on “1000-Lb. Sisters.” In season four, she qualified for bariatric surgery after losing enough weight.
The fifth season of the show began airing in December 2023 and covered various challenges faced by both sisters throughout that year including Amy Slaton’s divorce finalized in September. It also addressed Tammy Slaton’s husband Caleb Willingham’s death due to complications related to super morbid obesity at age 40 in June 2023.
Following Willingham’s passing, Tammy paid tribute to him through an Instagram post expressing her love and gratitude towards him.
