Actress Barbara Eden, known for her role in the sitcom “I Dream of Jeannie,” recently celebrated her 93rd birthday and shared that exercise has been crucial to maintaining her fitness. In an interview with Fox News, Eden revealed that she used to engage in intense workouts such as spinning classes and weightlifting with a trainer. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she had to adapt her routine and now relies on a stationary bicycle and lightweight weights at home.
Despite being able to continue exercising at home, Eden expressed missing the camaraderie and motivation of working out at the gym. Reflecting on past fitness trends, she emphasized the importance of finding an enjoyable workout routine. While aerobics was popular during its time, Eden personally found brisk walking more suitable for her. She believes it is beneficial for joint health compared to running.
In addition to regular exercise, Eden practices moderation in her eating habits but doesn’t shy away from indulging in sweets like key lime pie and chocolates. She attributes this habit of moderation to her parents’ influence.
Despite being in Hollywood for several decades, Barbara Eden continues to work actively because staying productive is important to her. She believes that keeping oneself busy and engaged is essential for personal fulfillment.
Born as Barbara Jean Morehead on August 23, 1931, Eden’s journey in the arts began with studying theater at City College of San Francisco and voice at San Francisco Conservatory of Music before pursuing acting professionally. Before gaining fame through “I Dream of Jeannie,” she appeared on various television shows such as “West Point,” “I Love Lucy,” “Father Knows Best,” “The Andy Griffith Show,” and “The Virginian.” Additionally, she starred alongside Elvis Presley in films like “A Private’s Affair” (1959) and “Flaming Star” (1960).
Barbara Eden’s talent extended beyond acting; she released an album titled “Miss Barbara Eden” in 1967 and made guest appearances as a musical performer on numerous variety shows including those hosted by Bob Hope, Carol Burnett, Sonny & Cher Jerry Lewis,and Tony Orlando & Dawn.
In recognition of her contributions to the entertainment industry throughout her career spanning over several decades since then till now , Barbara received a star on Hollywood Walk Of Fame back in 1988
