Bukayo Saka injured during England’s Nations League defeat

Arsenal ⁤star ⁣Bukayo Saka‍ was forced to leave the pitch during England’s UEFA Nations League‍ clash with Greece after ‍picking up a knock to his‌ right‌ leg. The⁤ Three Lions fell to a‍ disappointing 2-1‍ defeat to Greece at Wembley Stadium ‌on Thursday evening - a first-ever‌ defeat to Greece on the‍ international stage. Lee Carsley’s side were second best‍ for most of the fixture in truth, with Benfica’s Vangelis Pavlidis netting ‌a brace to earn Greece a famous win.

While the flat scoreline was a point of concern for England, Arsenal fans will have more interest in the state of their star winger Saka, who ‌was hauled off in the⁢ 51st minute after suffering a suspected injury. Saka was seen limping and stretching before falling to the turf, with Chelsea’s Noni Madueke coming on in his place soon after.

Speaking after the defeat, interim boss Carsley admitted that the player was being assessed before any decision would be made on the state⁣ of his injury. ⁢”He’s being‌ assessed,” he told reporters. “Obviously in the build-up to the first goal, you can see he felt⁢ something in his leg.”

The Gunners are set to return to action ⁤on October 19 when they travel to face Bournemouth. They’ll take that trip without captain Martin Odegaard, who has been⁤ sidelined following an ankle injury⁢ he⁤ picked up on international⁢ duty with Norway back in September.

Meanwhile, ⁢Saka’s international teammates are back in action on Sunday when ⁣they face off against Finland in the UEFA Nations League.
