Nassau Residents for Good Government gathered outside U.S. Rep. Anthony D’Esposito’s (R-Island Park) Garden City office to protest alleged violations of House ethics rules. According to The New York Times, D’Esposito hired a woman he was having an affair with and his fiancée’s daughter. Shortly after taking office in 2022, he employed his fiancée’s daughter as a special assistant in his Garden City district office, paying her $3,800 per month. Protestors demanded that D’Esposito repay the $29,000 in taxpayer funds used to pay both employees and called for an “expedited investigation” into this potential ethics violation.
