The annual Top 100 NBA player rankings by CBS Sports have been released for the 2024-25 season. This list reflects an aggregate projection of how players will perform in the upcoming season, taking into account factors such as performance from the previous year and potential for improvement.
One of the most interesting aspects of this ranking is comparing it to last year’s list and seeing which players have made significant moves up or down. In terms of risers, Victor Wembanyama takes the top spot, jumping an impressive 46 spots to just outside the top 10. Wembanyama’s performance after the All-Star break last season was exceptional, averaging 23.5 points, 12 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 4.5 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game.
Chet Holmgren and Alperen Sengun also made significant jumps on this year’s list, both moving up by 38 spots. Holmgren impressed in his delayed debut with the Oklahoma City Thunder and showcased his versatility as a player with skills both inside and outside the paint.
On the other hand, there were some notable fallers on this year’s list as well. Andrew Wiggins experienced a considerable drop of -53 spots from last year’s ranking due to a decline in performance since his All-Star season in 2021-22.
Other players who saw their rankings decrease include Josh Giddey (-40), Brook Lopez (-38), Marcus Smart (-37), Zach LaVine (-37), Klay Thompson (-32), Bradley Beal (-31), Chris Paul (-28), Malcolm Brogdon (-28), and Draymond Green (-26).
These rankings provide an interesting snapshot of how players are projected to perform in the upcoming NBA season based on various factors such as past performance and potential for growth or decline.
