Chiefs WR “Hollywood” Brown to be placed on IR, potential late season return

Kansas City Chiefs receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown may‍ be out of ‌action for several months, ⁢according to reports from NFL insiders. Brown suffered a dislocated clavicle after landing awkwardly on his shoulder during a⁤ preseason game against the Jacksonville ⁣Jaguars. This injury, known as a sternoclavicular joint ‌dislocation, previously sidelined former Chiefs receiver Tyreek ‌Hill for four games in 2019. Initially, head coach Andy Reid believed that‍ Brown would miss some time due to the injury but stated that they would‍ continue to evaluate‍ his condition.

However, on Friday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz⁤ reported that the Chiefs plan to ⁢place Brown ‍on injured reserve (IR)‍ and schedule surgery⁤ to repair his dislocated SC joint.‌ According to Schultz’s post on X, multiple imaging ⁢studies revealed that although Brown felt better, his‌ injury was not healing correctly. Without corrective surgery, there is a risk of more serious long-term damage.

Schultz also mentioned that Brown ⁢is scheduled for ‍surgery in Colorado on Monday and will⁢ undergo rehabilitation under the supervision ⁤of the Chiefs’ medical team.

This⁤ news comes as a blow to ‌the Chiefs’ offense ‍as they‌ prepare ‍for the upcoming season. ⁢With Brown potentially ⁢unavailable until late in the season, it remains to be seen ‌how this ‍will impact their receiving corps and overall offensive strategy moving forward.

The team will likely provide updates on Brown’s⁣ progress throughout his recovery process.
