China’s CDC: COVID-19 Cases Surge by Almost 20%

The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported a significant‍ increase in new COVID-19 infections in China, with two new Omicron subvariants spreading throughout the country. Despite this surge in cases, China’s reported COVID-19⁢ death toll remains much lower than ‌expected for a country of⁣ its population size.

According to the ⁣CDC’s report⁤ on August 8th, China’s test‍ positivity rate for COVID-19 spiked to 18.7% in the last week of July,⁢ up from 8.9% at the beginning of‌ the month. However, official data shows that China’s test positivity⁢ rate has not exceeded 8% since the start of this year.

This trend mirrors what ⁣is being observed in other countries like the United States. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported an increase in their test positivity rate to 17.6% over the past six⁣ months.

The World Health‍ Organization (WHO) has also noted⁢ a⁢ rising ⁢trend in COVID-19 test positivity rates across various regions worldwide. In⁢ Europe alone, there has been a 20% increase in positive⁣ COVID-19 tests since the beginning of this year.

Despite these increases in ⁢infections, China’s CDC only reported two deaths from COVID-19 during July. ‌In contrast, U.S. ⁣CDC data showed significantly more⁢ provisional deaths related to COVID-19 during that same month.

China’s ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has faced accusations from the international community regarding its handling and reporting of COVID-19 cases since ⁣late 2019 when it first emerged in Wuhan city.

China’s CDC identified two new Omicron subvariants named XDV and JN1 as contributing factors to their recorded cases during July. These subvariants accounted for a significant percentage of infections but were not found to cause more severe symptoms according to U.S.CDC data.

Dr.Dong Yuhong, an infectious disease specialist⁢ and senior medical columnist for The ‌Epoch Times highlighted that these variants have shown increased ability to evade antibodies developed through previous infection or vaccination efforts.

While there are signs of increased transmission again, it remains uncertain whether a deadly strain capable of causing another pandemic ⁢could emerge from these variants according to Dr.Dong Yuhong who emphasized continuous monitoring‍ and observation as necessary measures against COVID-19 spread.

Dr.Dong also stressed that vaccine development cannot keep up with continuous virus mutations alone; therefore individuals⁣ should focus on strengthening their immune systems through healthy habits such as regular exercise and stress management rather than relying solely on vaccines’ protection against infection risks posed by viruses like SARS-CoV2⁤ responsible for causing Covid -19 disease
