Chinese Firm Accused Of Illegal Cadaver Trade

Per a leaked court document, Shanxi Osteorad Biomaterial Co., a Chinese biomaterial company, has just been accused of participating in a long-term fraud involving the trading of thousands of stolen cadavers. According to the allegations, the corporation and its linked company bought more than 4,300 human cadavers from several funeral houses, a transplant facility, and a medical university between January 2015 and July 2023. Bone grafting materials apparently derived from these cadavers were produced.

The leaked paper claims that Shanxi Osteorad Biomaterial Co.’s created bone grafting materials were subsequently sent to hospitals spread over 13 provinces and cities. The company’s operations stretched over eight years before the scam surfaced. Leaked on May 23, the paper was later posted on Chinese social media site Weibo by Beijing’s well-known attorney Yi Shenghua, with around 2.8 million followers.
