Elon Musk‘s America PAC is offering supporters $47 for each registered voter they get to sign a petition supporting the First and Second Amendments. Musk encouraged followers on his social media platform X to sign the America PAC pledge and make referrals. The petition aims to get 1 million registered voters in swing states to support freedom of speech and the right to bear arms, according to the America PAC’s website. The program is exclusively open to registered voters in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, and North Carolina.
The America PAC is also paying $30 per hour for work that includes increasing voter registration and turnout. However, federal law prohibits individuals from paying or offering payment for someone to register or vote.
Earlier this year, the Biden administration faced criticism from Republican lawmakers when it announced plans to pay college students through the Federal Work-Study Program to help register voters.
Musk’s PAC has been critical of Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party while praising former President Donald Trump. The @America handle on X is dedicated to Musk’s PAC and has posted commentary supporting Trump as well as videos of Musk speaking at Trump rallies.
In October 2024, Musk joined Trump at a rally in Butler where he emphasized the importance of free speech for democracy. This event took place at the same location where an assassination attempt on Trump occurred months earlier.
Musk’s alliance with Trump signals their growing relationship ahead of the presidential election. In August 2024, they had a public conversation on X discussing various topics such as immigration and government regulations.
