Hyogo Governor to Run for Reelection Despite No-Confidence Motion; Motohiko Saito Declines Assembly Dissolution, Faces Removal

Hyogo Prefecture Governor, Motohiko Saito, has announced his intention to seek re-election‍ after the prefectural assembly unanimously passed a motion⁣ of no-confidence against him on September 19. According to the rules, if a vote of no-confidence is passed, a governor ⁢must either resign or ⁤dissolve the​ assembly within 10 days. Failure to do so‍ results in‌ automatic job loss. ⁤In response⁣ to this situation, Saito stated during ⁤a press conference on Thursday that he will not dissolve the assembly and therefore expects to lose his job.
