Japan External Trade Organization to Open Kyiv Office, Aiming to Support Reconstruction of Japan-Linked Companies

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) has announced that it will be opening ⁣a local office in Kyiv on ​October 10th. This move is ⁣aimed at assisting Japan-affiliated companies in contributing ⁤to the ⁢economic reconstruction of‍ the region. According ⁣to JETRO, there are currently⁢ around 40 Japan-affiliated companies, including manufacturers and wholesalers, operating in Ukraine. ‍To facilitate their operations, JETRO⁢ will assign a permanent​ staff member to the Kyiv office who will be responsible for gathering business-related information and ‍connecting ⁢Japanese companies with⁤ local businesses.

The ‌establishment of this office ‌was mentioned ​during the Joint ‍Communique of the Japan-Ukraine Conference for Promotion of ​Economic Growth⁤ and Reconstruction held in ⁤Tokyo earlier this year. ⁢Ukraine has shown promising growth potential in the field of information ⁢and communication technology,⁢ with numerous start-ups emerging‌ in recent years. ⁣The country has also actively ​participated‍ in information and telecommunications-related exhibitions held ​in Japan, fostering expectations for‍ collaboration with Japanese-affiliated ⁤companies.

In addition to supporting these technological advancements, JETRO aims to assist Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts through its support ⁣for ‍small and medium enterprises. By providing ‍resources⁢ and guidance to ⁢these businesses, JETRO hopes ⁣to contribute further to Ukraine’s economic development.
