Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi has strongly condemned the violation of Japanese airspace by a Chinese military aircraft. During a press conference, Hayashi expressed his concern, stating that the airspace violation not only infringes on Japan’s sovereignty but also poses a threat to its security. He emphasized that such actions are completely unacceptable and vowed to closely monitor the situation and take all necessary measures to respond to any future violations.
Hayashi refrained from providing a definitive answer regarding the intent and purpose behind the violation. However, it is expected that Japan will collaborate with the United States and other like-minded countries in order to strengthen its deterrence and response capabilities against China.
Defense Minister Minoru Kihara also addressed the issue during a press conference, highlighting ongoing communication between Japan and the United States. Kihara stated that they will closely observe China’s military developments while working closely with their American counterparts.
According to Japan’s Ministry of Defense, on Monday, a Chinese Y-9 intelligence-gathering aircraft violated Japanese airspace near Nagasaki Prefecture’s Danjo Islands for approximately two minutes. This incident further escalates tensions between Japan and China in an already strained relationship over territorial disputes in the East China Sea.
The violation of Japanese airspace by Chinese military aircraft raises concerns about regional stability and highlights ongoing tensions between these two nations. As both countries continue to assert their claims over disputed territories, it remains crucial for diplomatic efforts to be made in order to prevent further escalation of conflicts in this region.
