Disturbing Security Footage Captures Ambush and Fatal Shooting of Young Mother in New York City

A young mother was heartlessly shot dead as she sat in a car in Queens, New York, just hours after taking her four-year-old son ice-skating. 28-year-old Clarisa Burgos was in a Honda sedan when it was pelted with bullets near 127th Street and Liberty Avenue in Richmond Hill.

Burgos was shot in the head while the 39-year-old male driver sustained six shots to the torso. Despite his injuries, the driver managed to get to the 103rd police precinct in nearby Jamaica. Tragically, Burgos was pronounced dead at the precinct while the man was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he is in stable condition.

The Daily Mail noted that the victim leaves behind a young son, who was not in the car at the time of the shooting. In security footage, two men clad in dark clothing are seen walking toward the car while a third man strolls by on the sidewalk. One of the attackers fires multiple shots through the driver’s window while another opens fire from behind him. As the car tries to flee, a third gunman emerges on the sidewalk and shoots through the windshield before the three perpetrators flee the scene.

No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting, and the motive is still unknown. The relationship between Burgos and the driver has not been established. This incident, which took place on Tuesday night, has left family members in shock and anger as they grapple with the loss of their loved one. “We want to know what the hell happened. Why? Why is there another child without his mother?” Burgos’s aunt, Clover Gallart, told Gothamist at the family’s apartment in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.

This tragic incident is another example of the senseless violence that plagues many communities. The fact that an innocent mother was gunned down in front of her young child is a stark reminder of the need for greater efforts to address gun violence and ensure the safety of all citizens. The city is reeling from this callous act, and it is clear that more needs to be done to prevent such senseless tragedies from occurring in the future.
