Microsoft Acquires Over 1,000 Acres of Farmland in Wisconsin

Microsoft Corp has just completed the acquisition of more than 1,000 acres of farmland in Racine County, Wisconsin. The total sum of the three transactions amounted to nearly $176 million. One of the acquired properties included a pumpkin farm and a 9-acre corn maze in Mount Pleasant, covering 407 acres. This significant purchase is a part of Microsoft’s plan to invest close to $1 billion in building a data center in Mount Pleasant.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Microsoft paid a total of $63.2 million to the Village of Mount Pleasant for 400 acres on Braun Road and Durand Avenue. Additionally, the company spent $36.5 million on 241 acres on County Highway H. Finally, Microsoft also purchased 407 acres on Braun Road and Durand Avenue from Creuziger Farms Inc. for $76 million. The data center project is expected to create employment opportunities for 300 to 400 individuals.
