LeBron James to Skip Lakers Preseason Opener for Rest, Likely to Return This Weekend

The Los Angeles Lakers⁣ will be ‍without LeBron James for their preseason opener against the‌ Minnesota Timberwolves, as he will be resting, according to ⁢ESPN. This comes as a surprise considering training camp just started this week. However, James is entering his 22nd NBA season, tying Vince Carter for the most⁣ seasons ‌played in NBA history. Additionally, James will turn 40 ‍years old in‍ December and it’s natural for the body to not recover as quickly in your 40s⁤ compared to your younger years.

Although James⁤ won’t be playing on⁢ Friday night,‌ he plans⁤ on suiting up for the Lakers’‍ second preseason ⁢game ‌against ‍the‍ Phoenix Suns on ‌Sunday. While‌ missing a preseason⁤ game may not have much significance it does delay the highly ⁤anticipated debut of watching James play alongside ⁤his son Bronny James. The Lakers drafted Bronny in ⁤the second⁤ round back in June.

There is a lot of attention surrounding Bronny’s‌ first NBA game and seeing him play‌ alongside his father. However,‌ fans will have to ⁤wait a little ⁢longer as‌ LeBron recovers from rest.

With LeBron out of action, all ⁤eyes⁤ will be on Bronny as he prepares‌ for his first NBA appearance. This could actually ⁤work out better for him since he can ⁢play without the added pressure that comes with having his dad on the court with him before they eventually team up⁣ together.

It remains unclear how much playing time Bronny ‍will get ⁢during these preseason games. Nevertheless,‌ this‍ is an excellent opportunity for ‌young players like him to gain more experience before spending most of their time either on⁤ the bench or ⁢in the G League during regular season games. And while LeBron won’t⁣ be‌ out there physically supporting his son during these games, ⁤you can bet that he’ll be cheering him on loudly from⁣ the sidelines.
