FOX Nation is relaunching the high school football series “God. Family. Football.” that follows the Evangel Christian Academy football program. The docu-series, which aired on Amazon FREEVEE last year, will now be available on FOX Nation with eight never-before-seen episodes. The first three episodes will be released on Friday, followed by a new episode every Friday throughout the 2024 season.
The series focuses on the challenges faced by members of Shreveport, Louisiana’s Evangel Christian Academy football team both on and off the field as they strive for their 15th state championship title. From dealing with family illnesses to peer pressure and struggles at home, viewers will get an inside look at the players’ lives through practices, strategy sessions, dates, homecoming events, and all the ups and downs of high school life.
Pastor Denny Duron serves as both head coach of the team and chancellor of Evangel Christian Academy. With his experience as a college quarterback who led Louisiana Tech to back-to-back Division II national championships in 1972 and 1973, Duron brings a wealth of knowledge to his role.
The ECA football program was founded by Duron in the 1980s and has had great success over the years. However, they faced challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 with an initial winless season followed by a record of 3-8 in 2021. Currently standing at a record of 1-4 heading into their next game against Captain Shreve.
Aside from their impressive track record with state championships (14 so far), Evangel Christian Academy has also produced thirteen former players who went on to play in NFL according to Pro Football Reference.
FOX Nation president Lauren Petterson expressed excitement about becoming the new home for this inspiring show that showcases resilience and character. She also announced that a second season is planned for airing in 2025.
