Police in Kitahiroshima City, Hokkaido, have arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act by driving at a speed of 175 km/hour along a road with a 60 km/hour limit.
The suspect, identified as Kenya Sawada, is a part-time employee who has admitted to the allegation. According to Sankei Shimbun, Sawada stated that he was in a hurry to return home to Sapporo.
The incident occurred on August 6 at approximately 9:50 p.m. when Sawada was driving along National Route 274. His speeding violation was detected by an “Orbis” mobile speed camera.
Driving at such high speeds not only poses significant risks to the driver but also endangers other road users. The police take traffic violations seriously and are committed to ensuring public safety.
