Man arrested for speeding at 175 km/h in Hokkaido, claims urgency to reach home

Police in Kitahiroshima City, Hokkaido, have ‍arrested a‌ 30-year-old man on suspicion‌ of violating ⁣the Road Traffic Act by driving at a speed of 175 km/hour ​along⁤ a road with a 60 km/hour limit.

The suspect, identified as Kenya ​Sawada, is a part-time employee who has admitted to the allegation. According‌ to Sankei Shimbun, Sawada stated ‌that he was in a hurry to return home to Sapporo.

The incident occurred on August ​6 at‍ approximately‍ 9:50 p.m. when Sawada was driving along National Route 274. His speeding violation was detected by an “Orbis” mobile ‍speed camera.

Driving at such high speeds ⁤not only poses significant risks to the driver⁣ but also endangers ⁢other road users. The police take traffic violations seriously and are committed to ensuring public safety.
