Man arrested on suspicion of cutting woman’s skirt with scissors, says he wanted to see her underwear

Police in Osaka have arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of property damage after he cut a woman’s skirt at JR Osaka Station in May. According to NHK, Hiroaki Takemoto, a construction worker, allegedly used a pair of scissors to snip pieces from the woman’s skirt on an escalator inside the ticket gates of the station on the night of May 25. Takemoto admitted to his actions, stating that he wanted to see her underwear and had done similar acts about 10 times at Osaka Station and other locations.

The incident came to light when the woman, who is in her 20s, discovered that her dress had been cut while she was washing it the next day. She promptly reported it to both station authorities and police. Surveillance camera footage from inside the station confirmed Takemoto’s presence behind the woman as they both rode the escalator.

This arrest highlights concerns over public safety and privacy within train stations. Authorities are working towards implementing stricter security measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

It is important for individuals using public transportation systems to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or behavior immediately. By doing so, they can help ensure their own safety as well as contribute towards maintaining a secure environment for all passengers.
