Erik ten Hag, the coach of Manchester United, has provided an update on left-back Tyrell Malacia’s return to training. Malacia has been out of action since the summer of 2023 due to a knee injury that required surgery. As a result, he was unable to play at all last season. However, he was included in United’s squad for the Europa League. Ten Hag urged fans to be patient with Malacia but confirmed that the 25-year-old is nearing full fitness and will soon be ready for competitive matches again.
Ten Hag acknowledged the challenges of returning from such a long-term injury but praised Malacia’s hard work and progress. He stated that the player is making significant strides and should be back in team training shortly. Describing him as a talented individual, Ten Hag expressed his expectation that Malacia will soon make his return to games.
Malacia’s comeback will come as a major boost for United, who are currently without their only other natural left-back, Luke Shaw. In Shaw’s absence, Diogo Dalot has been filling in on the opposite side while new signing Noussair Mazraoui has experience playing on the left despite being primarily a right-back. Additionally, 17-year-old Harry Amass impressed during pre-season and has been training with the senior squad this season.
The return of Tyrell Malacia will provide much-needed depth and options for Manchester United as they continue their campaign in various competitions this season.
