Middle East Special Envoy Urges Japan-Turkey Dialogue; Tokyo Seminar Commemorates 100 Years of Diplomatic Ties

Tsukasa ‌Uemura, a special envoy for Middle‌ East peace efforts, delivered a keynote speech at a seminar in Tokyo on Tuesday. The purpose of the seminar was⁢ to commemorate the 100th anniversary of‌ diplomatic relations between Japan and Turkey. Uemura emphasized ⁤the importance of “close and creative dialogue” between the two ⁤countries regarding the situations in Ukraine and Gaza.

The event, organized by the Middle East⁤ Institute of Japan and others, also featured a panel discussion with six Middle East ⁢experts. Yasushi Hazama, a senior researcher at the Institute of Developing ‍Economies, Japan ‍External Trade ⁣Organization, highlighted that ​both Japan and Turkey have potential contributions to make in Gaza’s reconstruction after ⁤the recent ⁢conflict. He specifically mentioned‍ Japan’s cooperation in medical care and health care as⁣ areas where they could lend support.
