Nicole Kidman Mourns the Loss of Her Mother
Nicole Kidman is grieving the loss of her mother, Janelle, who passed away at the age of 84. In a joint statement with her sister Antonia, the Australian-American actress expressed gratitude to her fans for their overwhelming support during this difficult time.
Kidman took to Instagram to share her appreciation: “My sister and I along with our family want to thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness we have felt this week.” She also mentioned that every message they received from those who loved and admired their mother meant a lot to them.
The news of Janelle’s death came as a shock to Kidman while she was attending the Venice Film Festival in Italy. She had been scheduled to receive an award for Best Actress later that day but had to leave early upon hearing about her mother’s passing. The film’s director accepted the award on Kidman’s behalf and read a statement written by the actress expressing her shock and need to be with family.
Kidman has always spoken highly of her mother, acknowledging how much she has influenced her life. In an interview published on Mother’s Day in May 2020, she referred to Janelle as “my mentor, my guide, and my nurturer.” She credited her mother for giving her the drive and determination to pursue a successful career.
This isn’t the first time Kidman has experienced such loss. Her father passed away in 2014 from a heart attack. During an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” she opened up about navigating through grief and expressed gratitude for all the love and support she received from people during that difficult time.
Kidman leaned on her husband Keith Urban for support after both losses. The couple has been married since 2006 and shares two daughters together. Kidman also has two adopted children from her previous marriage with Tom Cruise.
As Nicole Kidman mourns the loss of her beloved mother, fans continue to offer their condolences while respecting their privacy during this challenging period.
