Osaka Expo’s ‘Jellyfish Pavilion’ Illuminates in Test, Showcasing Vibrant Images Reflecting Life’s Pulse

A lighting test took place at​ the Yumeshima reclaimed island in ​Osaka Bay on ⁤Thursday evening, showcasing one of the⁢ signature pavilions for the ‌2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. Known as the Playground of Life: Jellyfish​ Pavilion, this ‌unique structure features a white membrane roof measuring approximately 35 meters in diameter. The pavilion is being ‍produced by musician Sachiko​ Nakajima.

At around 6:30 ⁤p.m., computer-controlled illuminations ⁢were used to light up the ​roof in ⁢various ​colors, including ⁤red, blue, and purple. ⁤The vibrant lights created a mesmerizing display that resembled a rainbow of jellyfish floating ⁤in the‌ darkness. It is anticipated that ​during the Expo period,​ these illuminations may change when visitors interact with‌ musical instruments‍ inside the⁢ pavilion.

Nakajima‍ expressed her vision ‍for the pavilion, stating⁢ that she‌ aims to convey ‌”the pulse of life” ‌through this unique structure. With‍ its captivating‍ lighting and interactive elements, it is expected to be a highlight for visitors attending the‌ Expo.
