A lighting test took place at the Yumeshima reclaimed island in Osaka Bay on Thursday evening, showcasing one of the signature pavilions for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. Known as the Playground of Life: Jellyfish Pavilion, this unique structure features a white membrane roof measuring approximately 35 meters in diameter. The pavilion is being produced by musician Sachiko Nakajima.
At around 6:30 p.m., computer-controlled illuminations were used to light up the roof in various colors, including red, blue, and purple. The vibrant lights created a mesmerizing display that resembled a rainbow of jellyfish floating in the darkness. It is anticipated that during the Expo period, these illuminations may change when visitors interact with musical instruments inside the pavilion.
Nakajima expressed her vision for the pavilion, stating that she aims to convey ”the pulse of life” through this unique structure. With its captivating lighting and interactive elements, it is expected to be a highlight for visitors attending the Expo.
The 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo promises to be an exciting event filled with innovative and visually stunning exhibits like this one. As preparations continue for this grand exhibition, anticipation grows among both locals and international visitors who are eager to experience what promises to be an unforgettable showcase of human creativity and ingenuity.
