Over 500,000 Ceramic Coins Discovered in Kyoto During World War II Metal Shortage

In a surprising discovery, Japan Mint has revealed that over 500,000 ceramic coins, which​ were created during World ​War II due⁤ to a shortage of metal, have been found⁣ in a⁤ warehouse near one of its former mints in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City. These ‌unique coins were never put into circulation as the war ended before they could be released to the market. This is the largest‍ quantity of ceramic coins ever uncovered. Each coin has ​a value of 1 sen, ‍equivalent ‍to one hundredth of ¥1.
